I Born In Refugee Camp In Nepal

A person who does not have own home country and is settled down in another country, who is dependent on the government for water, food, shelter, and education, is known as a Refugee. Nepal has lots of these kinds of Refugee camps. I was born in camp, and while there, I had a lot of struggles just to survive. My parents are from Bhutan. One day the Butane's government exiled about more than one hundred thousand citizens, which included my parents, from their own country. They leave their own land forcefully. The Nepal government gave land to live on for those people as refugees but never gave citizenship.The entire refugee population started struggling to get food for even one day. Many parents killed their own kids because they didn't have enough money to buy food for their child. Many parents threw their babies in the garbage, and many people died because of poor sanitation. Due to the lack of electricity people had to finish their work before nightfall. When the government, after t en years finally began providing education, we, the students, had to start doing homework as soon as we got home from school. If we didn't finish it, we had to do homework to candle light or kerosene lamp.After living a congested life in the refugee camp, we heard about an opportunity from MOM (International Organization for Migration) about third country resettlement. We decided to come to America to make our future bright. Three months after I arrived in the USA joined middle school. There were lot s of students in my class and they always gave me unusual names in their language e and laughed at me for no reason. At that time, I knew very few English words so couldn't say anything to them. When graduated middle school, I went to SST. Gregory.There, I found all the t coachers, students, and parents to be helpful. My freshmen and sophomore year I had a lot of struggles to learn English. Learning English was hard many times couldn't even pronouns e a simple word, but I learned after many struggle. This is my second semester in Harold Washington college. I chose to go to city college at first because of my family financial condition an d my struggle on English language, and now is much better than before, so have started to HTH ink about my future, started to think about those problems which I had faced when I was in the re fugue camp.Because of that I choose to be an electric and electronic engineer and fix those e problems we had in the refugee camp that prevented me from studying at night. I have had to overcome many struggles to be in the position I am in and my family has been a great support to me. I want to make my future bright and achieve my am through your school. Decided to study engineering because I always wanted to know how machines work, and to be creative in my work. I have always enjoyed challenging myself, and want to be in career which would demand that I use all my knowledge to find solutions.

3 Tips for Writing Dialogue in Fiction 3 Tips for Writing Dialogue in Fiction â€Å"Fancy seeing you here,† the proofreader says, raising an eyebrow. â€Å"Word is you’re writing a novel and need some help. Well, you’ve come to the right place.† The proofreader takes your hand, gently but firmly leading you to a mysterious door in the corner of the room. â€Å"Come with me,† he says as he turns the handle, â€Å"and I’ll teach you all about writing great dialogue.† And as the door opens, you are dazzled by a bright light and feel the following tips fill your mind†¦ 1. Listen to People To sound real, dialogue should mimic the feeling of real conversation. A good way to get a sense of this is to listen to other people speak. Take note of the expressions that people use, the way conversations flow and change, and how speech differs from written language. Eavesdropping is the authors favorite pastime.(Photo: Thomas Szynkiewicz) However, don’t worry about making your dialogue too realistic. Human conversation is often full of â€Å"umms† an â€Å"urrrs,† but including these in your writing will make it stilted and hard to read. The main reason you’d include a verbal pause is to show that someone is hesitating. 2. He Said, She Said You may find yourself using â€Å"he said† and â€Å"she said† quite a lot in your dialogue. This is fine. In fact, it is better to use these terms consistently than to vary your dialogue tags too much. It is fine to use a descriptive term such as â€Å"shouted† or â€Å"whispered† now and then, but using too many will be distracting. The main thing is to ensure your readers know who is speaking at any given moment, so you can even leave dialogue tags out as long as this is clear from the context. 3. Show, Don’t Tell It can be tempting to tell your readers how a character feels while they speak. Typically, this will involve using adverbs such as â€Å"happily† or â€Å"sadly,† or even having the character outright say how they feel. Take the following exchange, for instance: â€Å"I got the job! I’m so happy!† she said. â€Å"That’s nice,† he replied distractedly. This tells us how the characters feel. But it is usually more interesting to show the reader how they feel by describing what they are doing. For example, we could change the line above to say: â€Å"I got the job!† she said, grinning from ear to ear. He looked up from his desk for a moment. â€Å"That’s nice,† he said, before returning to his work once more. Here, we can still tell that she is happy and that he is distracted. But we get this from the extra description rather than by being told directly. Summary: 3 Tips for Writing Dialogue in Fiction Keep these tips in mind when writing dialogue in a novel: Listen to other people’s conversations to get a sense of how they flow and the expressions used. The law â€Å"[outlaws illegal immigrants from receiving any state or local public benefits, bars them from enrolling in or attending public colleges, and prohibits them from applying for or soliciting work]†. (Fausset,  para. 11) The Alabama Immigration Law also forbids the harboring and transport of illegal immigrants. The law also outlaws them from knowingly renting any type of facility or property and does not allow them to work any where in the sate. If a company has an illegal person on their payroll then it makes it an illegal practice to not hire a legal resident. A big issue that has come up in many debates is the fact that schools now have to verify the legality of students in their schools. It does not ban students from attending the school but it does require that the schools keep a report and send it in to the state board of education. Another issue is that the police department must detain any person that can no provide documentation of being a United States Citizen. The Governor of Alabama, Robert Bentley, initiated this bill into congress and it was passed. The bill takes effect on September 1st 2011. Opponents of the bill state that it is unconstitutional. Some of them even saying that it is going back to the pre civil rights era. People are afraid that students will be afraid to attend school in case they are found out to be illegal. If they are found to be illegal then their parents and family could be kicked out of their home, fired from their jobs and they could lose any benefits that they may have making it impossible for them to live. The fear is also that they will be harassed by other kids at the school making it hard for them to attend and learn. The constitutional issue that arises is the discrimination factor. Illegal immigrants are being discriminated against because of their background. It is against the constitution to do that. This has many people angry and looking to overturn the laws in Alabama because of this. This law is more of a regulatory policy because the government of Alabama passed the law to ban illegal immigrants from the state and the laws to enact this ban are going to be taken into effect. The policies and laws surrounding this new act will affect many people and organizations. The illegal immigrants are going to be affected but the police department will have to make a special unit to handle the illegal immigrants or the suspected illegal immigrants that are stopped and detained. This will cost the taxpayers more money and will cost the police department more money because they will have to build bigger facilities, hire more work force and ensure that everyone is multilingual that works on these task forces. Those that do not have the funds to build bigger holding facilities will have to incur the costs to transport the illegal immigrants to other facilities within the state to hold until another unit comes in and verifies their status. The schools will have to hire a whole team that counts and ensures legal status for all children in the school. This unit would need to be multilingual to help with the needs of the illegal immigrant children and to ensure they knew what to do with these statistics. The school system will incur many costs because the unit will have to research and prepare a report stating their findings to the state board of education in Alabama. The state as a whole will be affected because employers will be afraid to hire anyone that does not â€Å"look† American. The employers have to hire another set of employees just to handle the paperwork involved in the e-verify system and to ensure all of their employees are legally authorized to work in the United States. This will cost the employers more money and will leave them little to no room to give incentive raises or merit based raises because of the new jobs this will entail. When new jobs are added, more taxes and insurance is required causing some places to maybe even shut their doors.
